Paul and Julie Olson
Paul and Julie have 5 children ranging in age from 10-20 years old. Paul and Julie met at Northwest Baptist College in Langley and have been married since 1994. Together they have a passion for ministry and have been serving at Burnett for over 20 years.
Paul has served in a variety of roles, from Children and Adult Ministry when he started to our main Children's Pastor for most of his time here to most recently overseeing Family Ministry and now as our Lead Executive Pastor. In this role, Paul gives leadership to the staff and the day-to-day operations of our church. He builds our church by training and equipping leaders from our Elders to our Ministry team Leaders. Paul's spiritual gifts are Leadership, Administration and Shepherding. He has great passion for seeing people make the next step on their spiritual journey. You will find Julie leading through her caring heart in the Nursery and our new Adoption Ministry.
The Burnett Church family is really their family. With no close relatives around, Paul and Julie have seen this church become family. They enjoy the fellowship and joy that comes from 'doing life together' with over 400 others. They feel very fortunate to be a part of this growing community of believers.
Paul and Julie have seen our church go through some amazing and difficult transitions. Yet, through it all they have seen God's had on Burnett and as we become the church that God is calling us to be, the IMPACT our church will have on one another and in our community is what they are most excited about.
Todd and Amanda Gallahar
It is my privilege to be serving God at Burnett Fellowship Church and being part of what God is doing in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. I love to teach God's Word and witness God transform lives through Jesus Christ. I also love my family. Amanda and I have been married since 1996 and we have two boys - Zach and Logan. I also enjoy hiking, running, fishing, and music. I especially enjoy different instruments that you normally wouldn't see in a standard rock band.
My education is from Grace Bible College for my undergrad, and Cornerstone University/Grand Rapids Theological Seminary for my Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership. I have served for many years as the associate pastor at Kalamazoo Community Church in Kalamazoo, MI (yes there really is a place called "Kalamazoo". While there, I was part of the teaching team, and oversaw the recovery ministry and creative arts. Now as part of the Burnett Fellowship team, as the Lead Teaching Pastor, I look forward to seeing where God is going to lead us. As one of my life verses says, "Search me, O God, know my heart, test me, and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting." (Ps. 139:23.24)
Derek Van Leenen
After growing up and graduating here in Maple Ridge, Derek is very excited to get to serve the students in this city. In 2010, he obtained his B.A. in Christian Ministry from Briercrest College in Caronport, SK. He has also spent significant time at Camp Qwanoes on Vancouver Island (10+ summers!). He is excited (and a little nervous!) to be starting his Master's Degree in the Immerse Program through Northwest Baptist Seminary this year, as well as helping to provide leadership to the student ministries at Burnett.
Glory has been interning as the Children’s Director at Burnett since 2011, while taking the Immerse program for her Master’s of Divinity at Northwest Seminary which she completed this year. We are pleased she has agreed to come on full time in giving leadership to our Children's Ministry. Glory's Spiritual Gifts are Faith, Giving, Hospitality and Shepherding.
In the past she has worked as a Preschool and Kindergarten teacher in South Surrey and as a missionary in Cape Town, South Africa.
Glory’s desire is to continue to serve her Saviour as she looks forward to see what God has in store for Kingdom Kids at Burnett and in her community.
Christina Kamlade & Luke Campbell
Christina and Luke got married on May 2, 2015. Although Christina has only been on staff since the middle of 2013, she has attended Burnett most of her life and has been a volunteer here at Burnett for almost 8 years now. She primarily works with the Grade 5 – 7 Ministry, but more recently has also been heading up the Young Adult Ministry. Some of her Spiritual Gifts include Administration, Missions, Service and Leadership.
Christina loves the Burnett family and she loves the church’s vision. She loves fellowshipping with the people of Burnett and experiencing the unity that we share through Christ. She loves working with our preteens and is amazed at their energy and the craziness that they bring to our church family.
Christina is excited about what God is doing in and through our church as we continue to pursue Him, build one another up and influence those around us for Christ.
Steve and Helen Haughton
Helen and Steve consider themselves to be ‘Lifers’ at Burnett. Helen’s parents and grandparents were a part of the Burnett family, and she grew up in this church. Helen met Steve when they were in Youth together, and they have been married over 44 years. They have 2 adult children, Nicole, and Richard who is married to Amanda, and 2 grandchildren. They love their role as parents and are very proud of who their children have become, but being grandparents has brought an amazing joy on another level to their lives. Together, they have loved serving and being a part of the Burnett church family.
Helen has been on staff at Burnett for over 32 years, starting part time in the office, working in the preschool and janitorial and then full time in the office for the last 27 years. Her Spiritual Gifts are Administration, Faith, Serving, and Intercession. Helen enjoys learning and being challenged in new areas of ministry as well as in her role of administration. She has a passion for prayer, and helping others in their journey of discovering a life that is dependent on our Lord. Steve enjoys serving behind the scenes, helping with maintenance, set-design and construction, and also serving at the coffee bar.
Helen is looking forward to this next stage of ministry at Burnett as we are involved in the community, and challenged to live in a way to influence others for Christ.
Barry & Jenny Waterman
Barry and Jenny Waterman have been attending Burnett since 2003. They have two children, Jemma and Ryan. Barry and Jenny are both very passionate about the Alpha program, with Barry giving his life to the Lord after attending a course back in 2005. Not long after, Barry and Jenny were asked to lead at a table and have been leaders in this ministry ever since. The Waterman family recently returned from a YWAM missionary trip to Hawaii and Vietnam. Barry serves as an Elder, Treasurer and has recently taken a volunteer part time staff position directing our outreach ministries.
